Great Book Fairs without Inventory
Edited by Ruth Smith

You don't need a big inventory to do a successful book fair

Simply set up your display, showing the fine samples from your kit & helping people fall in love with them. Have some catalogs available in folders for them to use there. Take orders, writing down the child's and teacher's names. Have the order be shipped to you so you can separate & bag each child's order, arrange them by classroom & take the boxes of bags to the school or preschool to be distributed to go home with the children.

Here are some ideas to help build the sales

1) Have the teachers use your books for story time.
2) Have the teachers make Wish Lists for parents to buy gifts for the classroom along with their personal orders.
3) Invite grandparents and others from the community.
4) Set up at an evening event if they have something going on where families are invited.
5) Offer local company's Community Relations Departments that they can help the local school or preschool in this way where 150% of their donation will go directly to the children. (100% toward ordered books plus 50% in free books when book fair sales are $500+ = 150%)
6) HELP your customers find more books their family will enjoy, and suggest extras to have on hand for gifts.
7) Let parents know ahead of time that you accept credit cards.
8) And, of course, have your calendar out ready to book some Home Shows.
9) AND, have new consultant info & kit order forms ready to add some people to your Usborne team.
10) Stand up, smile & enjoy it!
