Recruiting Magic
By Ruth Smith

Recruiting is SHARING
this great business you've found!
You do well by helping others do well.

SUCCESSFUL RECRUITING TIPS:

1. KNOW what the kit special is and be confident it is great.
2. TAKE a few books and recruit packets with you all the time.  Recruit packet = catalog, kit specials flyers, business info (like copies of the recruiting packet pages from the back of the consultant manual), business card or other info so they can contact you, and 2 consultant agreements with your parts filled in - one for them and one for their friend to start with them.
3. INVITE people to do this!  They may think they'd be "stepping on your toes" if they sign up, too.  Let them know you'd LIKE them to do this, too, and that we'll be glad to help them.

Want some MAGIC WORDS to use?

"You know, you could do this too!"
"Would you like me to turn this show in as YOUR first show?"  (to a hostess)
"Your friends seem so interested in these books, maybe YOU would like to do this!"
"I'd love to help you get started doing this!"
"Have you ever thought of doing something like this?"
"Hey, if this were YOUR show, you could get DOUBLE free books!  And all your friends that book shows can receive DOUBLE free books on their shows, too!"

4. LISTEN to what interests them about this and help them overcome any concerns to see how this fun, rewarding, profitable business can fit around what they want to do.  Reassure them that this is a great thing!
5. CLOSE the sale.  Be proud of what you're offering and help them go ahead and get their kit ordered.  Sometimes you need to help move them from the interested stage to the *DO IT* stage, without being pushy, by being helpful.  "Here's the form to get your kit ordered."  You can even offer to turn the kit order form in for them.

Want some more MAGIC WORDS to use?

How does this sound so far?
The next step is to order your kit!
This is what comes in *your* kit." (it's nice to give them ownership early)
Since UPS doesn't ship to PO Boxes, do you have a street address your kit can be delivered to?" (It's nice to ask questions where the easy answer is "YES".)

What do you say at a booth about recruiting?

"One thing we're doing here today is helping people get started with their own Usborne Books home business at whatever level you'd like.  Would you like to see what comes in the Kit Special?"

If they're hesitant about signing up, you could say, "If you know people who have children or work with children, you could host a show and see what it's like!  I'll be glad to come bring some of our best sellers and specials to offer your guests and you get free books!  We'll have a great time.  How does that sound?"

When you only do sales yourself, your income is limited to the amount of time and energy you can be out selling.  But when you are earning Recruiting Bonus and then Supervisor Overrides, while others in your "group" are selling,  your income is UNLIMITED!!!

How to Sign Up Your Hostess
(Apologies to the men in our group, but we usually refer to the show hosts as "hostesses" and "she". Men can do this VERY well, too! And I applaud those of you that do this so successfully.  Thanks for understanding.)

I've heard that 80% of all consultants were hostesses first.  So, think of every hostess as your next team member!  She likes books and sees what you do.  You could even mention it to her before the show as a possibility.  You can split the show as you'd like.

Here's what I recommend:  You keep the commission and give her the sales credit and bookings. You will have income for your work and will have trained your new team member on her way to Bronze.  She'd also be getting the free books to build her kit and the bookings from her friends to get her business started.

You can enter the show in Order Pro Online  and order the new recruits kit and give her credit for the show all at the same time!  This could be an Order Pro Online training also, if the hostess/new consultant can be there. You might do this over the phone too, if you both have high speed internet - you can talk her through placing the order, so she'll have greater understanding of how to do it herself next time.  She can access her Order Pro Online as soon as she gets her ID#, also.  Check online at www.UBAH.com/consultants to get her ID# on your MY UBAH page.  IF she signs up online by 10am central time on a weekday, her ID# will probably show up at 6:30pm that evening, otherwise it will be the evening of the next business day.

Help others get started doing this, too.
It may be just what they want, or need!
