Earning Career Level Income with UBAH
sit in on a chat training led by Nancy Ann Wartman & Ruth Smith

"Vision without action is merely a dream.
Action without vision just passes the time.
Vision WITH Action can change the world!"
Joel A. Barker

Things may come to those who wait,
but only the things left by those who hustle!
Abe Lincoln

This training is to give you the tools to become "Career Level Earners with UBAH"

What does "Career Level" mean to you?

  • When you have decided to devote the time and energy in your business to make it grow

  • I think career level is when you feel like the income you're making is a true reflection of the work you're doing - sometimes it's even MORE!

  • Career Level is working as you would another full time job.

  • A long term mindset

  • Not a hobby anymore

  • A business attitude.

  • A job you're passionate about

  • Earning enough income to replace other job

  • A job who's income will grow the more time, energy and skill I put in to it

You’re all right!

One of the things I think of when I hear the word CAREER is long term commitment. When you generally change careers you expect there to be some time involved to learn the skills to reach career level income.

You invest your time and energy to reach that level with any job - To reach career level w/UBAH you do the same thing! You could each earn $1000 a month more than you're earning currently and next year double it all.

Read Susan Wandishin’s article, which appeared in the UBAH company newsletter, about building your UBAH business.  Good info in there, too! Click here to read.

"My problem is I keep recruiting hobbyist"

Hobbyists sometimes become business builders

Ruth was a hobbyist

Ruth what do you have to say for yourself?  “SO, recruit lots of hobbyists. Actually - we simply can't prejudge - you never know who is going to want or need this business.”

Here is Viki's ad in a parenting magazine

If you were to start your own business, like a skating rink or a children's clothing store or a coffee shop there would be so many investments of time and cash before you begin to show a profit

Most people who sell $2000 a month consistently promote to supervisor. SO....Here's what to do Sell $2000 a month consistently

$2000 a month...if you average $400 home shows (that would be $300 net) then you'll need to do 7 home shows a month - that would be like 2 a week

2 home shows or other selling events a week would produce about $2000 a month in sales.

You'd have $500 commission up front

School and library sales are great, but it's harder to recruit in that area. It's easier to find recruits in other areas like Home Shows, Booths, Bookfairs, Online and even at the park!

You might do an Arts & Crafts fair and sell books at a Home School Conference - that would be 2 selling events, you might do 1 home show and sell books at the school science fair - 2 selling events a week

ALSO each week you could 1-3 other things....like meeting w/potential recruit, meeting w/preschool setting up bookfair, opportunity session, doing event or meeting w/ a new recruit or an online training meeting with us!

Once you do your 2 events a week you'll have leads you can follow up on - great customers to work with.

In Belinda Ellsworth's www.StepIntoSuccess.com Power Hour she suggests devoting 15 minutes a day to CUSTOMER CARE CALLS - that means calling your home show customers or other customers from last month and asking if they received their books OK and if you can do anything to help them.

You'll get repeat orders, booking and recruits from them

Have a thank you note already written out and mail it on the way home from your meeting, homeshow, appointment

Where do you sell to sell $2000 per month (other than S&L) where you can meet potential recruits???

See Great listing of more places to get leads  CLICK HERE

·        Conferences, booths, home shows, direct sales

·        Booths - Women's Festivals, arts & craft shows, gifted conferences

·       Lots of contacts with 2 Home Shows a week

·        Soccer signup, dance recital, language teacher meeting,

·        Website (some), booths (some) parties (lots) school (whole lots)

·        Multicultural night at a school, Science Fair night,

·        Home parties seem to be very important

·        Some schools have Spring Fling or Spaghetti breakfast or PTA night, etc. - that kind of event can lead to shows & recruits

·        There are LOTS of schools!  Lots of community events out there.

·        Teacher breakfasts:  Go in the morning before school starts, with donuts and books.  The librarian gets 20% in free books for whatever they spend.  Good to go on payday.

·        La Leche League groups sometimes like to have fundraisers - that's a group of moms who are dedicated to their kids and who value education - good group to recruit from!

Once you have all these various events booked & are out selling all these great books ===> then you'll be with others that will want the things UBAH has to offer, too.

The 1st thing is to fill your calendar with events - You've got to GET OUT THERE where people can see what you have to offer.

When you're out getting $2000 in sales other than S&L sales, then you're going to be in contact with loads of people - you'll be  getting bookings and recruits!

The thing is that you'll really start making money when you promote 1-2 supervisors under you. Once you do that you'll see your income become more steady .

You can put on a business-building push, for example take two - four months and work toward something - like promoting to supervisor or doubling your central group.

Scheduling more events for two - four months will make a BIG difference.

This is YOUR business and you are the one that does the work toward growing it. Each one of you CAN do this in a BIG way if you want to. The working part is up to you though.

As you're first building a group - the selling part is very important so that you are out where people can see the books & the business opportunity.  Also at the beginning, selling is where the bulk of your income comes from.  That changes as your group grows.

Set goals, share them with your spouse or good friend, share them with your supervisor so she can cheer you on and provide guidance.

Keep recruiting.

How many hours would a Part Time position be?

Are you doing events (not just organizing papers) to fill that amount of time?

In the beginning you do a lot of work that you don't get paid for and in the end you get paid for a lot of work you don't do.  Stick around to get the latter!

Are you selling $500 in books each week?

Break it down so that you can see if you're getting out there enough to really build it.  If not, then book more events.

What we do depends on what our goals are...

We fit in Usborne around our family activities

Take care of your "roadblocks" so you can do this.

It's important to recognize what is holding you back - you can make a list of them and then you can see what you need to take care of - childcare may be one of the things on your list.

<Lori> You may want to check out the scheduling book, Managers of their Homes, by Teri Maxwell.  www.titus2.com
(Lori is homeschooling and is the mother of 4 in a busy household and she's doing it!  She's really growing her business nicely right now)

You may want to spend a day on getting some things booked then switch back to recruiting and training.

It's all a balance - recognize what you need to do and what you need to take care of and then just do it.

<Pam> Keeping a list of calls and action required has helped me keep track of what is a priority that day

Let's talk about RECRUITING and what it means for YOU!

A consultant who has recruit(s) receives 4% of their recruits' sales each month that the recruiter has $350 net sales

Let's talk MONEY...

Let's say that you sell your $2000 net goal this month and your new recruit sells $1000 net.

You will earn commission of about $660 plus sales bonus of 5% on your net sales $100, PLUS 4% of your recruit's $1000 - so another $40!
TOTAL $800

Let's say you had 3 recruits that sold $1000 - then you'd earn $120 recruiting bonus and you've done about the same amount of work you did when you had 1 recruit who sold $1000
TOTAL $880

It’s like giving yourself a raise!

If you're out selling $2000 net a month excluding school/library sales (since they're not as great for recruiting), you'll probably be recruiting about 2 people a month.

When you promote to supervisor...you earn 11% MORE on your own net sales!

Let's say you want to drop back to a $1000 net personal sales, you'd be earning about $300 commission, plus 5% sales bonus (since you're over $700 for the month) plus 11% supervisor override
$300 + $50 + $110 = $480 on your own sales

PLUS you get 11% on your groups sales!

<Susie -Texas> WOW!

<Lori> That's almost a 50% commission!!!!

Let's say from your 5 or more recruits they totaled $4000 net sales x 11% = $440 PLUS your $480 = $920 for the month

<Susie> That is amazing! I didn't realize

<Ruth Smith> This is SOOOO worth doing!  Figure what YOU need to do & DO IT!  You'll be so glad.

Let's say you're a supervisor and you're earning your happy $920 from your personal sales and your groups sales and you'd like a raise - all you do is recruit a couple more folks and help them get their business going and you're earning more.

<Ruth Smith> The push to be at business level income is temporary, then the income is there getting bigger.  The neat thing about your check getting bigger and bigger is that you are helping others to get checks too! They'll really appreciate you helping them like that!

HOW DO YOU RECRUIT?

·        Talk with the people, share the books and let others know that they could do that too and invite them to join as a consultant with the awesome kit special. By the way,  it doesn't matter WHAT the special is - always treat it as if it's great!  :-)  It's also OK to like the base kit better than the special offer - you can say "I actually like the base kit better this month because it gives you SO MANY books to work with!"

·        Offer the opportunity like a waitress offers dessert.

·        Have signs & flyers about the business ready

·        Make friends with your potential recruits

·        Look at your customers, potential recruits and hostesses like you're going to see them again and again  - when you look at someone like you probably won't ever see them again, it's not nearly as warm as when you look at them like you're going to be with them time and time again

<Dolly - FL> Yes, I've gone back to doing more home shows...less lucrative, more recruits. The new home office banner helps too.

<Pam> I agree, S&L is so fun, but I seem to do better recruiting at HS

<Nancy Ann Wartman> That's smart Dolly!  You'll meet more people and can build your group and get them working then go back to your specialty  :-)

<Viki> I'm trying to take a "Calm down and listen approach" to recruiting.  Recruiting has always made me nervous - I guess in some way I felt I was responsible for their success or failure.  Now I listen to what people are saying.

SO, are you ready to book events NOW?

You might need to make 25 calls to get 4 events booked

<Dolly> Sometimes I challenge myself when I start to make calls, like I can't stop until I get 10 "no"s.  It amazes me how long that can take.

Who do you call on Saturday?
Who DON'T you call on Saturday?!

Find ways to make it happen – when you do that, then your income w/UBAH will skyrocket!

Don’t make choices for people – let them make their own choices – allow them to make educated choices by offering them UBAH.

One trait of someone working toward career level is that they don't get discouraged! The no's just roll right away and they're on to the next YES! You have to have a paradigm shift where you really shrug off the no's

When someone rejects what you're offering, they aren't rejecting YOU.
I believe YOU can earn Career Level Income with Usborne Books at Home and this is something you offer to others too….so, why not do it now?
