Reach for the Stars - Sample Announcements

It's helpful to have the school staff make announcements each day regarding their RFTS.  Here are some sample announcements you might provide for them.  Use these as a guide.  You can make your announcements for each school specific to them and to their incentives.  Make them fun and upbeat.  Print the list and give it to the principal, or whoever makes the announcements.  Maybe students could make the announcements. 

Wednesday, February 7,
We are very excited about our Reach For The Stars reading program! Have you been reading?  Did your parents see the papers you took home on Friday?  A few sample books and Kid Kits have been put in the showcase next to the trophy case.  Make sure you take a look!

Thursday, February 8,
How many of you have turned in your participation form and received your Reach for the Stars bookmark?  Have you asked your grandparents to sponsor you for your reading? 

Friday, February 9,
This weekend is great time to get some extra reading for Reach for the Stars!  By the time you return to school on Monday, you should have at least 300 minutes of reading! Don’t forget to ask all your aunts and uncles to be a sponsor!

Monday, February 12
How many of you read over the weekend?  Did you keep track of your minutes for Reach for the Stars?  Remember, the class with the highest average of minutes read will receive a class party!   Teachers, remember the teacher with the highest participation receives $50 in books for themselves!

Tuesday, February 13,
How are you doing collecting sponsors for Reach for the Stars?  Remember, you get 70% of everything you collect to choose books.  How many of you have stopped by the showcase to see the sample books?  Remember to record the minutes you read on your star chart!

Our Reach for the Stars is going great! Don't you love to read and get rewarded for it?  This week is the last week to ask friends and family to be a sponsor for Reach for the Stars!  Students who collect at least $100 get an extra Kid Kit!

Reach for the Stars reading ends this week.  Which classes will win the class parties?  Remember one for the highest average minutes read and one for the the highest average pledges collected.

Friday, February 16,
Remember to do your final reading and pledge collecting over the weekend!  You need to bring your reading log and pledge money to school on Tuesday the 20th! Can you think of anyone you haven’t asked to sponsor you?  Ask them this weekend!

How many of you remembered to bring your reading logs and pledge money today?  If you didn’t, remember to bring them tomorrow!

Attention STAR READERS! All of the reading journals and pledge money is due this week and need to be turned in tomorrow.

We are extending the deadline for accepting pledge money and reading journals to tomorrow.  Tomorrow is the very last day to bring in your reading logs and pledge money.  Next week you will get to choose your books!
