D~U~C~K~S Home Show

Great for home shows and ANY time you're telling the features and benefits of our books!

How do you remember everything you want to tell people about these incredible books!!?!

It’s as easy as D-U-C-K-S

This acronym helps you easily remember all the main features of Usborne Books.  It is printed on the inside jacket of our catalog so your guests can "follow along".

D Double page spread Great Search Series, See Inside series and so many more Peter Usborne recognizes that book pages go from edge to edge, not left to middle and middle to right. When kids read books they spread out, book flat, elbows down, ready to devour the book in front of them. So why not use that whole space to capture them? Usborne illustrations are BIG and often the cross the center of the book. Today you have to be as big as television and computers to capture kids’ attention. Pictures like this (hold one up) can do it!

Dual Level Reading Farmyard Tales The Farmyard Tales, Bible Tales, Fairy Tales c/v and Princess Stories c/v feature a DUAL LEVEL of READING.  There is a simple line at the top of the page and more text at the bottom.  You could read only the top for a younger child who would like to turn the page or all the text for a child who would like a more complete story.  When the child begins reading they could read the top and you could read the bottom - already leveled for you and your budding reader to read together!
U Unlimited Activity any Puzzle Book Usborne Books call a child to be part of their reading experience. Obviously our science experiment or craft books will engage the child in an activity in addition to reading.

We also have puzzle books which have puzzles on every page of the continual story.  The questions at the ends of each page ask the reader something about what their reading or about the picture. The child's reading comprehension skills and critical thinking skills are strengthened as they work the puzzles.  Kids love puzzles, so they do them again and again.

Unlimited Learning Internet Linked Books Our Internet-linked books contain descriptions of website you can visit to delve deeper into the subject on the pages.  Visit them through www.Usborne-Quicklinks.com, click on the title, page number and the recommended and monitored links will be there!  The books are outstanding reference books with or without internet access.
C Cutaways MANY of our books, See Inside Series Peter Usborne recognizes children’s natural curiosity. Unfortunately, this is something we adults stifle in them at a young age. Primarily for their safety and our sanity, we often tell them "Don’t touch" or "You’re not big enough" or "Stay out of there, you’ll get hurt." Usborne books take them in and opens things up. They don’t just do this for the older children with the Cutaway series. Our books start this at a young age. Simply removing part of an airplane wall to expose seats and baggage compartment in a Toddler Board book explains more to a three year old than anything you could say to them in words!

Combined Volumes MANY of our books Many of our books are available in a combined volume.  For example, I Can Draw Animals is $4.99 and is available as part of Big Book of Playtime Activities, which is $17.99 for seven books in that series.  These books are simply bound together - they are the complete books.  This can provide quite a savings for the customer, so be sure to point them out!
K Knowledge in bite sized chunks any of our informational books Open any Usborne book and notice how text is broken up by headings and illustrations. This makes information manageable. Wherever your child goes in a book, they’ll find something that catches their eye which always has a visible "end" to it. They’re not bombarded by a page covered with text and one tiny illustration. This means things are easily "filed." And when they’re easily filed, they’re easily recalled!

Kane Miller all Kane Miller books Kane Miller books are written around the world - see the location of the author above the globe logo on the back of the book.  They give a feel of being somewhere else.  Many of these stories will touch your heart.  Be sure to mention Conspiracy 365, Anna Hibiscus and the title that has sold over a million copies...Everyone Poops.  :-)
S Step-By-Step What Shall I Draw or any project book These titles are amazingly different from others you may have run across. Why? Because their step by step format allows your child to check themselves as they work through the project. Often the child does not even need to read well yet. By following illustrations, they will not only finish the project, but it will look like it is supposed to! There is no better way to boost a child's self esteem than to put them in a position where they generate their own success!
That Spells Ducks! And that means Stephen Cartwright! Here I wrap up our powerful wordless books; how Find the Duck helps children begin and move on to Farmyard Tales series, Farmyard Tales First Word Book, Bedtime Stories etc. That about covers it! Give clients a good idea of the breadth of all 1400 titles while really selling them on ones they won’t go home without! You can change the titles to better fit a particular age or audience and it still works!! This helps new consultants feel comfortable with their material. Have fun with it!!
