UBAM Fundraising Options
by Nancy Ann Wartman

Coming soon ... details on the NEW Cards for a Cause Fundraiser!

All of these methods have been approved by the Home Office.
You can have up to 44.6% cash to split with the organization! (see 4th option below)

Reach for the Stars (RFTS)
Outlined in the new consultant handbook
Program where the kids collect pledges to read & the money collected is used to buy books for the school & incentive awards
Work-intensive on your part, but can be highly successful
FTP files available to download and chat logs for RFTS on the consultant website
actually similar to (but more complicated than) option 4 below

Click here for RFTS index page within this training site

Direct Sale
Take orders, write it up as a Direct Sale
Split the 30% commission with the organization
The EASIEST way
EXAMPLE: $400 in sales = $400 in books and $120 cash to split between you & the school/organization (30%)
Home Show or Book Fair
Take orders &/or collect donations, write up as a Home Show or Book Fair
You keep the free books and give them almost all the commission
Easy and good IF you want to build your supply of books on hand
EXAMPLE 1:  $200 orders &/or donations = $200 in books ordered, $50 in free books for you (25%) and $40 cash to the school/organization (20%)
EXAMPLE 2:  $500 orders or donations = $500 in books ordered, $250 in free books for you (50%) and $85 cash to the school/organization (17%)
Enter the customer orders in the Full Retail area, give them the 25% commission on that, and order the Hostess Benefits for yourself.  These are yours to sell, give, add to your kit, or whatever, costing you only the tax & s/h.

Back Down Book Fair Order
This is the most profitable way
Must be turned in as a bookfair
Must be at least $750 in orders &/or company donations
44.6% commission to share with the organization/school and yourself
Here's the formula:
Retail sales divided by 1.5 = amount your order will be turned in as
Divide that amount by 2 = how much will be turned in as free books
EXAMPLE:
$2000 in orders divided by 1.5 = $1333.33 turned in as retail
$666.67 turned in as free books

$666.67 amount paid to you for the books you turn in as free books
+ $226.67 commission (1333.33 x 17%)
$893.34 to split between you & the organization (this is 44.6% of the actual sales amount of $2000)
Other Notes About Fundraisers
The handbook states that you need a note on the school/organization letterhead stating an Usborne Bookfair was held. This is helpful for the home office for tax purposes.  I know of many bookfair orders that have gone in without a letter.
No shipping is charged on orders turned in as bookfairs.
No tax on sales benefiting them if you are using the church/school/organization's tax exempt number.
You can collect donations from companies on the needy organization's behalf (with their approval), offering that our company will MATCH their donations 25% or 50% in free books depending on the total amount - this will be turned in as a bookfair.  This it the same system that we use for Toys For Tots nationwide.
When promoting an Usborne Books Fundraiser, I suggest offering the following. You may use any of the above methods for turning the order in.

Bookfair & Fundraising Options
 For Books:
    25% Free Books with sales of $200 - $499.99
50% Free Books with sales of $500+
 For Cash:
15% Cash with sales up to $750
20% Cash with sales of $750+
